i’m new to structural analysis. i have figured out simple beams and columns but not trusses. I have done a few beams with distributed loads besides the normal tributary loading. so, i’m not sure of things like the support column from the ridge beam to the cross beam. i’d like to set this up as a project that can be a template. I’m going to try modeling the connext connectors for use in clearcalcs.
Hello! welcome to clearcalcs!
Welcome to the world of structural analysis! It’s awesome that you’ve tackled simple beams and columns already. Trusses can be a bit more complex, but I’ve got some great resources to help you out and make your project a breeze.
-
How to Use the Truss Analysis Wizard: This guide walks you through the steps to input truss geometry, specify load conditions, and analyze the resulting forces and displacements. Perfect for getting started with trusses!
-
Portal Frame Analysis: Worked Examples: This article provides detailed examples of portal frame analysis, including how to input geometry, select members, and apply distributed and point loads.
-
How to Enter Distributed Loads (Imperial Units): This article discusses how to input distributed loads into ClearCalcs, including the parameters and worked examples.
These should help you set up your project and create a template for future use. If you run into any questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. Happy modeling!
