We need to import 2d cad file ( layers included) and able by selecting lines and intersection lines defined labelled structural members and having a summary member schedule.

A CAD importer would be great for the section property generator, especially the thin-walled type using the finite strip method. I’ve been wanting to use this method to evaluate section properties for complex aluminum mullion shapes but haven’t found the patience to ever try to create some of those shapes manually.

Thanks for sharing Mae! We’ve discussed this a few times and are still formulating ideas for how we’d best implement it. Would it be acceptable for you if you had to ‘map’ your CAD layers into CC when you uploaded them? (ex. different members types on different layers?). From the analysis we’ve done, we’d need some sort of ruleset to be able to determine what gets sent where.
