Do you frequently use the Preferred Section feature in ClearCalcs?

If yes, what are some of the ways you use them in your design workflow? Some of the users we spoke to highlighted the following examples:

  • Setting up project templates based on region and adding preferred sections according to the geographic location
  • Add common sections to the preferred sections as project templates for similar types of projects, e.g., large residential design.

If you haven’t used the Preferred Sections tool yet, what is holding you back from adding it to your workflow?

No preferred sections for me…

As for why? … well, I’m not sure why I’d use this, to be honest. If I’m using dimensional lumber, dialing in my species is basically the same sort of thing, other than instead of falling in its natural spot, where I’d look for it, (e.g. between a 2x8 and 2x12), a 2x10 may inexplicably be at the top of the list, no where close to its mates, and therefore harder to tell whether or not it’s an efficient section.
